Because of tequila and New Year’s celebrations, I hibernated in bed for most of the day. While resolutions are great, and a healthy start is optimal, I NEEDED bagels and lox, and it was kind of a life or death situation. The cheat is that the spread is an herbed tofu, not full-fat cream cheese. Boom. It was perfection.
Black Seed Bagels deserves all the hype it gets. Not only is it three blocks from my apartment (SOS), but the place itself is cute (small and cozy, don’t round up all your ancestors for brunch.) They make their own beet-cured salmon, which I have noted for next time. The menu selection is everything you could ask for in the carb world. I envy those who had melted cheese gushing out of their bagels. I don’t know if I have it in me.
Tomorrow I’ll have a green juice, which should cancel everything out. Also, maybe it’s just mental justification but the bagel wasn’t a fatass hefty bulk of bread, it tasted pretty light…
