So last week I finally tried Speedy Romeo for dinner because apparently I’ve been living under a rock or something and it took me a while to go but that’s okay because I shouldn’t be eating pizza regularly anyways. (Only because I can’t cheat on my tacos like that.)
I’ve taken better squash images since my inception, I really have. But the lighting was meh, and the photo wouldn’t do it justice anyway, so you’re going to have to take my word and head to Santina immediately and eat this squash carpaccio.
You know when you want something really, really badly so you call the store to put it on hold with the deathly fear that there’s only one left on the planet in your size and everyone will die if you don’t obtain your item of desire?
It comes with a poached egg on top.
And like, really epic Thai food. Uncle Boons is your next destination for an ethnic inspired flavor bomb that will knock your bra off. Or your socks, or whatever. Before digging into the coconut sundae (shut up, I went on a 6:15 AM jog this morning), let’s talk green mango salad.
At least it’s not an avocado toast…? Kale is one of those inevitable things you might hate to love or love to hate on, but I can’t pass up an epic kale salad when it stares me in the face (they almost always do). And this was round two at El Rey and it was just as good, if not better.
It’s actually a sweet potato appetizer with za’atar, coconut cream, pumpkin seeds and buckwheat found lingering somewhere around Chinatown, my new home. It was preeeetty good.
